Idly batter - 4 cups
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Gram dhal - 1tsp
Asafoetida - 1tsp
Red chilli - 8
Curry leaves - few
Oil - 4tsp
Salt as required
Preparation Time: 20 min
Cooking Time: 20 min
Take 2 tsp of oil in a pan add mustard let it splutter then add urad dal, gram dal, asafoetida one by one.
Once the dal turns golden brown add grated coconut, salt, curry leaves and saute for a min.
Add the sauted coconut mix with the batter and mix well.
Now pour the batter in greased tumblers/ ss cups and steam cook them for 20min.
Serve hot with your favourite chutney.
Steaming tip - Steam the idlis in tumblers instead of idli plates.
Scraping tip - Scrap the corners with knife before unmolding the idlis.
