Garlic, Cheese and bread are a typical combination in Western countries. Garlic Cheese toast, also known as garlic bread may have originated in Italy. Initially, in Italy, people rubbed garlic cloves on bread and drizzled olive oil and it was topped with cheese. We could say this was the starting point for what we now call garlic bread and an Indian version would be garlic naan. It became really popular in the US in the 19th century. Over time, many countries adapted it to suit their traditional flavours. Here is a quick and easy way to make Garlic Bread
White or brown bread – 2 slices
Butter – 50 gms
Garlic – 5 crushed
Chilli flakes – ½ tsp
Coriander leaves – 1 tsp
Cheese – 50 gm
Preparation Time: 2 min
Cooking Time: 5 min
In a pan add butter and crushed garlic saute for a few minutes and keep aside.
Add some butter to the pan and lightly toast the bread slices.
Now add the garlic butter to the bread, and top it with a cheese slice. You may add some coriander leaves, and chilli flakes on top.
Now place the bread again on the pan, close it with a lid and roast till the bottom side turns brown and the cheese melts.
Serve hot with some tomato sauce and enjoy!
