500ml price revision Uzhavarbumi milk

If you are someone who buys our 500 ml milk bottle every morning, this note is especially for you.

Because when something changes in your everyday routine, you deserve to know what changed, why it changed, and how seriously we thought about it before making that decision.

From May 11, 2026, the price of our 500 ml milk bottle will be revised from ₹44 to ₹50.

We understand this feels sudden. We know price hikes are never easy to accept, especially for something that becomes part of your daily life and honestly, this was not an easy decision for us either.

Some business decisions are simple and numbers choose for you. But then there are decisions where the numbers say one thing, but your values ask something else from you. This was one of those decisions.

The Reality Behind Every 500 ml Bottle

When we started Uzhavarbumi, the idea was simple at heart.

Farmers should receive a fair price for their milk, and families should receive genuinely fresh milk every morning. But making that happen every day is not simple behind the scenes.

Milk has to be sourced early morning from farmers. It has to be processed carefully, maintained under cold chain conditions, packed, loaded, transported, and delivered to your doorstep before your day even begins.

And whether we deliver 500 ml or 1 litre, most of those costs stay almost the same.

The vehicle still travels the same route. The delivery partner still makes the same stop. The cold chain still runs for the same duration. The processing unit still operates the same shift.

The only thing that changes is the quantity inside the bottle.

For a long time now, the economics of 500 ml have been difficult and we kept trying to absorb that quietly from our side.

The Conversation We Almost Had

There is something we want to say openly.

At one point, we seriously considered discontinuing the 500 ml bottle altogether. It was a real operational discussion.

From a purely business perspective, it looked reasonable. Simplified operations, reduced losses, ask customers to shift to 1 litre on alternate days. On paper, it made sense.

But the more we discussed it, the more uncomfortable that decision felt.

Because 500 ml is not just a smaller SKU. For some households, it is exactly what works.

It is the mother who needs fresh milk every morning for her child. It is the elderly couple who only need a smaller quantity daily. It is the customer who values freshness enough to consume milk the same day instead of storing it.

Why We Decided to Continue It

At Uzhavarbumi, we never wanted convenience from our side to become an inconvenience for our customers.

The people who choose 500 ml are not necessarily choosing less because of affordability. Many choose it because they specifically want fresh milk every single morning in the exact quantity they need.

Freshness is not just one feature among many. For many customers, that is the whole point.

So asking everyone to shift to alternate-day 1-litre delivery did not feel like a real solution. It did not sit right with us.

And so, we made our decision.

We will continue 500 ml. But we have to revise the price to make it sustainable.

The Revised Price

Effective from May 11, 2026, the price of our 500 ml milk bottle will move from ₹44 to ₹50.

We did not choose this number carelessly. We carefully looked at what it genuinely costs to source milk responsibly from farmers, maintain quality standards, deliver fresh milk every morning to your doorstep, and do what we do without compromise.

This revision is what allows us to continue doing all of that sustainably without cutting corners either for the customer or for the farmer.

Why This Matters Beyond Just Pricing

This decision is not only about operational costs.

Every sustainable bottle we deliver also means a farmer continues to receive fair and reliable income. It means they are not forced to depend on intermediaries who underpay them. It means the direct connection between farmer and family continues to survive.

And honestly, that connection is the entire reason Uzhavarbumi exists.

When food systems become financially weak, everybody loses eventually. Farmers lose stability. Customers lose trust. Quality gets compromised somewhere in the middle.

We do not want that future.

A Small Thank You

If you are reading this, thank you for being with us.

You trust us with something very personal to your home. That trust matters deeply to us.

We did not want to make this change through a cold notification without properly explaining ourselves. You deserve transparency. You deserve honesty.

We truly believe this is the right decision, not just financially, but also in terms of staying true to what we set out to build.

And we will continue working every morning to make sure that trust is deserved.

The revised price of ₹50 for the 500 ml milk bottle will be effective from May 11, 2026. There's no change in the price of 1 litre milk. If you have any questions, write to us, we're will always here to help.
